PUBLIC NOTICE
The Maryland
Department of Natural Resources Fishing and Boating Services 2018
Recreational Black Sea Bass Fishery—Effective March 1
The
secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, pursuant to
Code of Maryland Regulations 08.02.05.21F, announces that the
recreational black sea bass fishery will be closed from 12:01 a.m. March
1 through 11:59 p.m. May 15, 2018.
The Atlantic States Marine
Fisheries Commission approved Addendum XXX to the Black Sea Bass Fishery
Management Plan, which includes an option to develop regional management
measures. The region that extends from Delaware through North Carolina
is working together to develop proposals for 2018 recreational rules
that will be reviewed at the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission
Board meeting in March.
After the board approves the proposal the
department will establish the season, catch limit and minimum size for
the recreational black sea bass fishery for the remainder of 2018.
